There is no Undo or Redo button for the craziness in your life. It is the fire that purifies you.
This page articulates the Eight Aspects — the heart of Beyond Blame & Shame: The Truth of Who You Are, a forthcoming book in the Hero’s Path of Love.
The teaching here is the working version. The book will hold this teaching in fuller form, with the journey through each aspect drawn out across nine chapters — one soul, walked through one crucible, for each of the eight exalted aspects of the Divine.
If you've been walking the path a while, you've already asked it. Maybe in a therapist's office. Maybe on a kitchen floor. Maybe at three a.m. after the latest round of whatever your particular version of this is.
Why did this happen? Why this family? Why this marriage? Why this body, this diagnosis, this addiction, this loss? Why — if the universe is benevolent, if there is any larger intelligence at work — why this specific set of crucibles?
This room is the answer Sir EgoYour ego. The hero with the wrong map. has been unable to hear, because Sir Ego is busy trying to figure out what went wrong, who to blame, and how to make sure it never happens again. The Wise OneYour higher self. Already home. has been holding the answer the whole time.
The crazy stuff wasn't a malfunction. It was the mechanism.
I saw all of this in a flash one day, in meditation. I'd like to tell you the story.
The question arrived, as the deepest questions tend to, in the silence after everything else had stopped.
I had been sitting in meditation for what felt like a long time. The outer noise had quieted. The inner noise had not — but I was no longer fighting it, which is a different kind of quiet, and sometimes enough.
I asked the question I had been circling for years, the one underneath the other questions: Who am I really? Not the mother, the professional, the survivor, the woman rebuilding. Not the roles, the wounds, the accomplishments or the failures. Beneath all of it. Where the shame doesn't exist. Who am I there?
My deepest self answered immediately.
You are made in the image of God. What are His aspects?
And then — in the space of a breath — I saw it. Eight aspects, laid out with the clarity of something that had always been true and was only now being seen: Light. Peace. Calm. Wisdom. Love. Power. Joy. Expression. The qualities of divine nature. Not moral requirements. Not things to achieve. The actual substance of what we are made of, at the level where the shame cannot reach.
And then I saw something else. On either side of each aspect — two distortions. The swing toward excess and the swing toward deficiency. The sword and the shield. The ways Sir Ego attempts the aspect from his own limited resources, and produces instead the counterfeit.
And then I saw my own life mapped onto this. Forty-plus years of it. Every orange jumpsuit. Every courtroom loss. Every bottle. Every relationship that ended in wreckage. Every place I had swung to the sword. Every place I had swung to the shield. The crucibles that had forged each aspect. The relationships that had served as the hammers.
And I saw — in that moment, with absolute clarity — that what I had always experienced as failure and shame was actually the mechanism. The pendulum swinging. The aspect being forged. Not evidence that I had broken the system. Evidence that the system was working exactly as designed.
This room is what I saw in that meditation. Laid out in the maps that arrived afterward, when the flash took shape. Each map points at the same territory from a different altitude. Take what you can see. The rest becomes visible when it's ready.
At the level where the shame cannot reach, you are made of eight qualities. Light. Peace. Calm. Wisdom. Love. Power. Joy. Expression. These are not achievements. They are substance. The same substance the Creator is, because you are made in that image.
But Sir Ego does not have access to them directly. He has access only through the Wise One — and when he forgets the Wise One is available, he reaches for each aspect with the tools he has: his shield and his sword. The shield is the aspect practiced in deficiency — collapsed, hidden, withdrawn. The sword is the aspect practiced in excess — forced, loud, weaponized. Both are Sir Ego's sincere attempts to produce the aspect on his own. Both produce the counterfeit.
Read across any row and you'll find yourself in one of three places. The shield (hiding, fleeing, collapsing). The sword (judging, fighting, dominating). Or the center — the Wise One's radiance, presence, faith, creativity, insight, flow, authenticity, warmth.
Sir Ego's entire life is a pendulum swing between the shield and the sword. When one fails, he switches to the other. When that fails, he switches back. The exhaustion you've been feeling is the pendulum itself. The Wise One has been standing at the center the whole time, waiting for Sir Ego to stop swinging and look up.
The sword and the shield are not the problem. They are sincere attempts by a courageous soul to produce the divine from human resources. The attempt was never going to work. The attempt is what brings you here.
Here is the piece that reframes a life.
The moments you have been carrying as evidence of failure — the marriage that fell apart, the addiction that nearly took you, the child who stopped speaking to you, the diagnosis, the job loss, the betrayal, the specific crucible you would most like to edit out of your story — are not what Sir Ego has been telling you they are.
They are the KarmariculumYour soul's custom lesson plan. delivering the exact forge required to discover which aspect you came here to embody. The shattering was the hammer. The disillusionment was the fire. The failures were Sir Ego's shield and sword swinging, one more time, in the direction they always swing when he is being asked to stop swinging.
Every time the pendulum reached the end of its arc and the old move stopped working, something was being forged. Not by you. Through you. The aspect itself — the Light, the Peace, the Calm, the Wisdom, the Love, the Power, the Joy, the Expression — was being refined in the specific fire your soul chose before you arrived.
What I had always experienced as failure and shame was actually the mechanism. The pendulum swinging. The aspect being forged. Not evidence that I had broken the system. Evidence that the system was working exactly as designed.
This is why the practice matters, and why this teaching matters alongside it. The practice — the Five Steps — is how you walk through a triggered moment when it arrives. The teaching is why the moments arrive in the first place, and what they are forging in you as they do.
Both the Script of CreationThe living intelligence running the universe. and your own soul agreed, before you arrived, on the exact crucibles you would need. Nothing was a mistake. Nothing is being done to you. Everything is being done through you, and for what you came to become.
This next map pulls the same territory into greater detail. Each aspect shown with its duality — Sir Ego's typical ego pattern — alongside the Wise One's exalted expression. And between them, the Crucible: the specific inner work that converts the raw material of a life into the refined aspect.
You'll notice the Five Steps woven right into the map. RECOGNIZE for Light. RECEIVE for Wisdom. RELEASE for Peace. RELAX for Calm. RESPOND for Power. The practice from Room Three isn't separate from this teaching. The practice is how the forge operates, one triggered moment at a time.
Notice where your life has landed most often in Sir Ego's Duality column. That's the forge your soul chose. That's the aspect being refined in you right now.
This last map is the most personal of the three. It turns the teaching into first-person language — statements you'll likely recognize as ones you have either said out loud or carried silently. And next to each one, the remembrance. The sovereign truth. The Wise One's voice in your own first person.
Read down the left column and notice where your voice catches. That's the aspect being forged. Read across to the right column — the sovereign version. Even if you can't yet feel the Wise One's truth, notice that she is already speaking it. Notice that it is available. The gap between the shadow statement and the sovereign statement is the practice. The Five Steps are how you walk across.
You are not the distortion. You never were. You are the aspect being refined, the soul being forged, the divine image recovering its clarity. Every triggered moment is the Karmariculum turning the fire up by exactly the right amount.
The maps above are the territory. What follows is one walk through it. The Wise One won Sir Ego over — one click at a time, by an aspect-by-aspect demonstration that her path produces better outcomes than his. Twenty years of evidence is what made the framework findable. Sir Ego was won over by the proof.
We came here for the rides. The Earth Adventure Park is built around the eight not-god aspects — the eight categories of experience available only to a soul that has accepted the veil and incarnated. In our divine essence, in unity with the Creator, we cannot be judged, abandoned, rejected, disempowered, manipulated, or made to feel inadequate. There is no other. There is no separation. So before we incarnated, we picked the not-god aspects we still had business with — the ones with unfinished karma, the soul contracts we had agreed to honor, the lessons we came here to walk. That choice is the karmariculum. Every problem this life hands you is exactly the problem you signed up for. The problems are the point of this life, not a bug.
The framework names eight aspects: Calm, Peace, Power, Love, Joy, Wisdom, Light, and Expression. The canonical order is a map of the territory. Each soul’s journey through it is custom — based on which wound is loudest, which gift is most blocked, which lesson the soul came here to walk. Yours will be different. The order below is how mine clicked, in real time, over twenty years. The rides do their job. And sometimes they make us want to puke.
Both poles are part of the path. Every aspect has its shield and its sword — the two distorted versions Sir Ego cycles between until the third option, the Wise One’s Y-axis, finally appears. Both poles are routes through which each aspect gets explored.
Light came first. The denial had been thick enough to require a stripping. The holding cell, the third DUI, the everything-gone — none of it was punishment. It was the necessary removal of every layer that was not me, so that what was actually me could finally be seen. Underneath the wreckage was something the wreckage had never touched. Once that was findable, nothing else could quite go back to hiding.
Peace came next. The unshakable inner knowing that the world was unfolding as it should, even when I could not see how. There was a plan operating, a power greater than my ego and greater than the people who had hurt me, and the upside-down world I was walking through was not the real one. Once that conviction was load-bearing — not as a concept but as something the body trusted — I could walk through a custody battle with my head up. Without Peace, the Five Steps would have been technique. With it, they became practice.
Calm could finally arrive. With Peace as the floor, the nervous system stopped fighting the storm. The Five Steps became usable in real time. The body learned that it could feel a trigger without acting on it — could let the energy rise and pass through, could find the still point at the center of the noise. Calm is the discovery of something inside you the storm cannot reach.
Wisdom arrived through the practice itself. As I sat with the open heart and the open mind, the Wise One appeared as the part of me that had been here all along, waiting for the conditions in which she could be heard. Sir Ego became visible as Sir Ego. The Wise One became findable as the Wise One. The wisdom built through three-way meetings: Sir Ego stating his case in full, the Wise One offering the piece of the larger context he had not seen, and me — the chooser between them — learning over time to consult her first. The vocabulary of the framework was not invented at a desk. It was the words I needed for what was actually happening inside me, finally given names.
Love came after, and required everything before it. When my children entered their own dark night, I had the practice in my pocket — but I also had the harder work waiting for me. The love I had been calling love had been enmeshment, attachment, the impossible bargain of trying to fix from outside what could only be lived from inside. Hallmark cards could not reach the place my children were in. Good advice could not reach it. What could reach it was the love that holds without grasping — the love that witnesses without rescuing, lets the soul on its own karmariculum walk its own path. A dream came to me of paradise without the screeching monkeys — and the discovery that erasing what looked uncomfortable from outside would have erased the very thing the monkeys’ babies depended on. Do not make the monkeys extinct. Love that has been freed of the enmeshment is not less love. It is finally Love, in the sense the soul means it.
Power took years. Sir Ego’s version of power is zero-sum — taken from others, given by others, defended against others, always somebody loses for somebody else to have it. Divine Power is something else entirely: limitless, generative, sourced from beyond the zero-sum field. I had to unfind every distortion before I could find the real thing. The final test came years later, in the form of a coworker who handed me the same disempowerment wound the marriage had left, in a new costume — a bookkeeper, new to the work, certain we were equals and therefore unwilling to be coached. For two years I went around her on eggshells, did the work twice, said nothing about what she was doing wrong. One day I felt it: I am doing exactly what I did with my ex. The karmariculum had brought me the same lesson in a new package, to test whether the wound had actually cleared. It took weeks of letting the energy move before I could speak to her without making it worse. Once it cleared on my side, she had to align with the new dance. She had no choice. We are collaborators now, humble on both sides. The karmariculum does not bring you the original perpetrator. It brings you a new person carrying the same shape, so you can confirm the wound is gone.
Joy came back last. Drinking had been an imitation of joy for years — the brief lift of suppression that the body mistook for the real thing. When drinking ended, that imitation went with it, and what was left was decades of Calm and Peace and Love, without the animation. Just flat. Adequate. The earthly pleasures had been spent on the children or the work, and life was enough, but lacked animation. Then the writing came through. Then this came through. Joy is uncovered. Once the obstruction cleared, what had always been underneath — the river’s joy at being the river — surfaced. I laugh now while doing sacred work. That is the confirmation that the Wise One is in the seat.
Expression is clicking now. Expression is the authentic vibration of who you are when every other aspect is operating — aligned with what the framework calls the Script of Creation, the larger pattern of which your particular life is one note. It travels through whatever instrument your soul came with. The painter’s brushstroke. The judge’s ruling. The architect’s drawing. The parent’s bedtime. The way you stand in line at the post office. When all eight aspects are operating, you are a tuning fork. The vibration is what carries.
The assignment is small and precise. Clear what is yours to clear — the triggers you came in with, the karmariculum you signed up for — and let the cleared vibration carry through whatever instrument you happen to be. Walk yourself to the center. Lift the tent pole where you stand. Others rise. Your personal triggers and your personal transcendence are the route to your purpose in humanity’s awakening. The specific work each soul came to walk is what lifts the field.
The Wise One says to the ego: I know just what you mean.
This room is the overview — the architecture and the walk. The book is the deeper passage — one chapter per aspect, the full teaching on how each one is forged, the specific patterns Sir Ego runs when he’s trying to produce it on his own, and the Wise One’s way of letting the aspect emerge as what you already are.
